FAT ALBERT AND THE COSBY KIDS!! From the Original Super Rare Vinyl!

Sunday, March 30th, 2008

DADDYKIN HAD THIS TO SAY WHEN HE SHARED THIS LP:

“Hi. I say that about this album because it is one of the most scarce bubblegum LPs that I have ever encountered. I honestly didn’t know it existed for ages, as is the case with many fans of the show. I always knew about the Bill Cosby comedy records about Fat Albert, but I craved a TV soundtrack with the theme and the songs that I heard the Junkyard Gang perform each Saturday morning. Well thanks to eBay, I discovered in recent years that such an album was actually recorded and released in 1973, Paramount Records #PAS-6053 (thanks to Rob G for this info!). The details are foggy to me even today. A google search brings up little or no info on the LP. I always notice the eBay listings too late, but when fate produces a copy it always goes for $100-$200. I still don’t have the vinyl, but I give you a “collectible” rip straight from the vinyl. While there are audio CDs in the Fat Albert DVD sets that give you all this stuff now, I still find this elusive slab of vinyl more appealing. Album cover artwork (as much as I have) is included in the folder. Any more info on this record would be appreciated. Enjoy!! TRACK LISTING: 01. FAT ALBERT THEME, 02. DON’T LOOK DOWN ON A SMALL GUY, 03. THE HERO, 04. FRIENDS, 05. PLAYIN’ HOOKEY, 06. FOUR EYES, 07. WE’RE ALL TOGETHER, 08. BEGGING BENNY, 09. THE HOSPITAL, 10. STAGE FRIGHT, 11. THE BULLY.”

Busy Summer . . .and Fall!

Friday, March 28th, 2008

It’s been over 6 months since I’ve updated this but I’ve had people mention to me this summer that they keep coming back so I thought I’d add a little something. Of course, by now everyone may have given up!

We’ve had an extremely busy and emotionally draining spring and summer. In March, Mark’s mom died of cancer. We miss Alice but are very glad Matt had the chance to meet her. We also lost my Uncle Roger to Lou Gerhring’s Disease in May, my Grandpa Fred and Mark’s Uncle Wally in August.

We were gone for 2 months this summer with the summer project in Medora, ND and then staff training in Colorado. Matthew did very well with all the travel and particularly enjoyed seeing buffalo. We got some real cowboy experience in North Dakota and had a good summer project experience.

We went through Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons for a short vacation between project and staff conference and had a refreshing time in Colorado. We visited Grandpa LeRoy on the way home and were in La Crosse for 6 days before we left for Fargo and my Grandpa’s funeral. We stayed in Fargo for a week and a half with Grandpa Bob and Grandma Ellie because Mark had to go back out to Medora to close up the project. We enjoyed our time there and Matt got to go on his first bike ride with Grandma.

The day after we got home from Fargo we left with our small group bible study from church for our annual weekend at Twin Lakes. It was Matthew’s first time and he enjoyed being around the other kids and his first boat ride.

We’ve been at home now for almost 3 weeks, with the exception of a trip to Slayton for Uncle Wally’s funeral. The college students are back and we’re in the midst of the busy fall schedule. Mark is extremely tired as he is the only fulltime staff right now and our movement is going through some very trying times. We’d appreciate your prayers!

I will post some updated photos–Matt is sure growing up! It was a year ago this week that we met him for the first time in Novosibirsk. Now he is running, climbing, chatting up a storm and adding so much joy to our lives.

If I get some indication that people are actually still looking at this I may update it again sooner than Matt’s 2nd birthday!
